Relationship between patient activation and self-efficacy among patients undergoing hemodialysis: a cross-sectional study

Abstract Background Patient activation in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is increasingly being prioritized and considered a quality metric CKD. Given the importance of patients’ improving care, this study aimed to assess levels its relationship with self-efficacy among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Methods In cross-sectional study, total 180 maintenance hemodialysis were selected by random sampling from largest center (dialysis Emam Reza hospital, Tabriz) Iran. Data collected demographics, patient measure, (CKD-SE) scale March May 2021. Collected data analyzed using SPSS software (ver. 26) ANOVA, t -test, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple regression tests. Results The majority participants (35%) at level 1 only 28.9% individuals 4. According results, mean score (in possible range 0–10) was 5.50 ± 1.45. Multiple analysis showed that factors including self-efficacy, educational level, marital status significant predictors change ( R 2 = 0.85, adjusted 0.66, p < 0.001). results main predictor β 0.49, Conclusion result, patients' could improve patient's activation. Moreover, lower reported score; therefore, health care providers should knowledge encourage them be more active their help providing tailored strategies efficiently.
